Welcome to Hoosier's Weekly Blog Spot! We are very happy to be a part of the interactive internet community of Bloggers. It finally looks as though Spring is here! While driving home from the auction hall yesterday we saw the most positive sign of Spring hanging from the telephone poles...yes, Yard Sale signs!!! Finally!!!
Yesterday's auction was nice- a little small but riddled with some great Quality Items!!! We got a count of 425 Lots Sold. If you've ever been to Hoosier's Weekly Thursday Auctions you know that our focus is NOT on quantity but on quality. You also know that 99% of the auction walks through the doors beginning at 8am on Thursday Morning...so we never really know what we're going to sell....of course, this makes
US the Ultimate New England Treasure Hunt!!!
Unfortunately, the amount of time we have to walk the auction floor and photograph items is VERY limited. Often on Friday when we go through the photos we find ourselves a bit disappointed because something that
really was worthy of putting on our web site didn't get photographed. However, that being said, we do get some
awesome snap shots and we give Jeff a great big "Thank You!" for his time & effort. Now...mind you, while Jeff is photographing he's also placing items on the floor and greeting our clients as they walk through the door...this is all before he takes the podium. Two Thumbs Up, Mr. Chestnut!!!
Hoosier's has a brand new addition to our office staff!! The Chestnut's would like to Welcome Ms. Rita G. to the Hoosier Family!!! Ms. Rita can be found behind the office computer screen clerking in the auction...which is no small feat!!! Ms. Rita is very proficient at getting our Buyer's & Seller's through the check out line with super sonic speed.
We have been getting quite a few phone calls from folks curious about our consignment process & what sells at the auction so, we'd like to take some time to review the auction consignment procedure:
- If you feel that you have $500.00 or more worth of merchandise (smalls) and you need a table you MUST call on Wednesday 8am - 5pm. 1-866-738-8466 Toll Free or 860-536-6545 Main Office. If you already have sales records with us it is imperative that you call to get proper table placement otherwise, you are considered a walk in and you can not fall back on your good table records. If you are NEW to Consigning with us you will automatically be placed in the middle of the auction. Being in the middle of the auction gives everyone a fair chance to establish good sales records...remember, the better the merchandise the more it will bring. NEW Consignor's are placed on tables by call in time so it is best to call early. NEW Consignor's are encouraged to do their best as your gross sales record for the day will determine where you are placed in the auction the next time you call for a table.
- If you do not feel that you have enough merchandise to Reserve an entire table then you can simply bring down your merchandise and we will lot & tag on spot. You're lots will be placed on a community table and sold. There is NO LIMIT as to how many items you bring...and Yes, some of our clients prefer not to have a table and bring in 20-50 community lots each. Again, quality is checked and you are placed accordingly (by the Auctioneer) on the community tables.
- Furniture & Art Work- We LOVE Furniture!! We LOVE Art!! Furniture is unique as you do not have to call in advance. Furniture arrives and is placed in the Furniture Section. Art is subsequently placed in the Art Department.
- Our Commission Rates are per piece 20% $ 1.00-$49.99 | 15% $50.00-$99.99 | 10% $100.00 or more....the better your items the less commission you pay. We work on straight commission...you do NOT rent tables. We charge a 12% Buyer's Premium (-2% Discount for Cash or Check). Consignor's are Paid CASH until the office runs out...then checks are issued.
- We'd also like to explain the Drop-Off & Pick-Up Services we offer EVERYONE!!! If you can not make it to the auction to set-up on Thursday Morning you can drop-off your merchandise during the week at our Mystic office or schedule a pick-up.
A)If you would your merchandise photographed and placed on our web site www.hoosierauctions.com or our auction zip site Auctioneer #2888 you can drop-off or we can pick-up.
Drop-Off your items at our Main Office Located at 170 Ocean View Ave in Mystic. We are open 11am-3pm Monday-Wednesday, Friday & Saturday. On Thursday see us at the auction hall in Pawcatuck. Please have your items to photograph separated from the bulk of your table. We do NOT go through your entire table to select items to photograph for the web site. Also please do not email photos of items you'll bring in on Thursday...we need the physical piece in our possession before we add it to our web site. Our Photography Deadline is Monday at 3pm. We upload our previews that come in on Tuesday morning and emails are sent on Wednesday morning. This a fairly new service addition to our weekly auctions therefore, if you are checking our web site faithfully and not seeing upcoming previews it is because no one has brought in merchandise to advertise early....we are still running that week and you need to come to see what we are selling.
Lastly, Quality Control is performed at every auction by the Auctioneer. Loads are inspected before entering the hall. We sell
Antiques & Collectibles. We turn 3-7 loads per week away due to less than antique standard merchandise. We ask that you check out our website or attend an auction or two and take a peek at what we do for a better insight on what consignment sells.
- Our consignor's are a really special group of people...they are some of the best in their field in the antique industry & we'd like to "Thank Them All" for their support and patronage. And yes, the rumors are true, folks really do come from all over New England, New York & New Jersey to Buy and Sell at Hoosier's every Thursday Morning! You'd be surprised at who goes to auction at 10am on Thursday morning! Hoosier's is the First, Biggest & Best Tables Auction in New England!!
We'll see you next Thursday April 23, 2009....We've got the coffee pot on!
